Our Staff

Kathy Samaniego, PT
Administrator

I was born and raised in Manila, Philippines. I received my BS in Physical Therapy from De La Salle University in the Philippines in 1999. I moved to Saginaw, MI and became a board certified Physical Therapist in 2000. My first job as a Physical Therapist was at Convenant Hospital as a staff Physical Therapist. I worked both on the Orthopedic floor and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit from 2000-2006.

In 2006, I moved to the Chicagoland area in order for my husband to be closer to his family. Upon moving to Chicago, my first job was at the Veterans Medical Hospital in North Chicago. I was a travelling Physical Therapist for 8 months on the Rehab floor and Extended Care Facility. In 2006, I joined Advocate Home Healthcare. I left Advocate in January 2007 and founded Rehab Specialists of Illinois, Inc.. In January 2009 I became the Administrator for Synergy Home Healthcare, Inc.

As a Physical Therapist, I have extensive experience in managing patients with Neurological and Orthopedic problems. I am results driven and I make sure that my staff and I provide the best care to our patients for them to reach their highest potential.

In my spare time I like to spend time with my husband and my daughter. We love to travel, eat and go boating.

Mary Ann Samaniego
Director of Operations

I was born and raised in Chicago, IL. In 2001, I decided that I wanted to do something different, something challenging, and something that no one else in my family has ever done before. After contemplating for awhile it came to me. I was going to join the military. In May of 2001 I became a part of the United States Air force. I served proudly for 4 years working as an Aircraft Analyst. I was stationed in Spokane, Washington at Fairchild Air Force Base. During my term I was able to travel to places such as Japan, Hawaii and Diego Garcia. On my second year of service, I was invited to join the elite Air Force Honor Guard. I accepted the invite and upon joining I was able to represent the Air Force to the American Public . It was true blessing to be able to serve my country.

In 2005, upon completing my career in the Air Force I returned back to my hometown. Although a civilian, I was not completely ready to let go of military life. I took a position at the Great Lakes Naval Base working as an Assistant Instructor. My role was to deliver classroom instruction to potential military instructors. I also assisted the Lead Instructor with the development of lesson plans along with developing and the grading of test.

In 2006, I received my BS in training and Education from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. I joined InteliStaf Healthcare's corporate office in Oakbrook, IL working closely together with the Manager of Training and Development. My responsibilities included planning, coordinating, and facilitating on-site training events. I collaborated with subject matter experts to design and develop new hire training for the operations staff. During my first month of employment with InteliStaf, I was able to develop processes and tools to streamline the training function which allowed for a more efficient training staff. Responsible for the training at the corporate level was very much fulfilling and allowed me to incorporate skills I learned both in the military and in college.

In 2007, I switched gears and joined HRJ Capital working in their satellite office in Highland Park, IL. While with HRJ Capital I was able to travel to California and New York assisting two Executives in the Real Estate division. It was a great experience that taught me how to setup an office from scratch and how to keep an office running efficiently. At HRJ I also trained new hires in New York and in California.

In 2009, I joined Synergy Home HealthCare, Inc. as the Director of Operations. Knowing that I work for an agency that prides itself in helping others is what makes me grateful to be part of the team. My objective as the Director of Operations is to ensure that each member of the staff is trained to provide the best possible customer service to everyone. It is my mission to have Synergy be known for two things: 1) The agency that provides only the most highly trained, compassionate, and reliable clinicians in order to best serve our patients and their families and 2) Customer service that go beyond all expectations.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and my dog. I like trying to make people laugh, dining out, going to the movies, concerts and watching live theater. I also enjoy relaxing at home and playing board games. I also enjoy playing sports.

Richard Samaniego
RN, DON

I was born in Manila, Philippines but my parents and I migrated to Chicago when I was one year old. I attended Gordon Technical Catholic High School in Chicago. I decided to take up nursing and I received my Associates Degree in Nursing at Ravenswood Hospital in 1999. My first job as a nurse was at Northwestern Memorial Hospital on the Medical Surgical floor which allowed me to manage patients with different kinds of problems.

In 2002 I became a traveling nurse and worked on an ortho/neuro floor at Covenant Hospital in Saginaw, Michigan. Then in 2004 I was offered a position as the assistant director of nursing at Heartland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Saginaw. It was a very challenging position but rewarding at the same time. In 2005 I began my career in home healthcare for the Visiting Nurse Association in Saginaw.

Being a visiting nurse is the best job I have ever had. I enjoy going to patients' homes because of the one on one care, personalization, and intimacy I can provide to them there. I can spend quality time with them without interruptions from call lights or beeping IV pumps. It is an honor for me to be welcomed into their homes which is such a personal experience that most doctors don't even get to enjoy. I become their bridge to their doctor and through education, assessment, and proper communication I am able to keep the patients at home and out of the hospital. It is such a rewarding experience for me to be able to help people stay healthy through my knowledge and experience.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends chatting, telling jokes, playing golf, and as you can see, eating! My wife and I enjoy watching movies, traveling, and boating. Every summer, we try to go to Traverse City, Michigan and we spend a whole day on the speed boat in the Grand Traverse Bay of Lake Michigan. I am always looking forward to summer because I love outdoor summer activities.

Thanks for taking the time to read my bio! Have a great day!
